Pedro Damas is an industrial designer and design researcher born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. His main interest is asking better questions about the future of design and proposing new objects that are strangely familiar, and he is fascinated by the way the shape of things can speak to people. He seeks to unite design theory and practice daily through in-depth research on social behavior, bio-inspired design, inclusive design and emotional design.
Currently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. in Design at the Postgraduate Program in Design at the Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais (UEMG), holds a Master's degree in Design (2023) from the same institution, and graduated in Design (2018) from the Centro Universitário de Belo Horizonte. He is a Research member of the Design and Social Representations Research Group (CNPq), a DTI-A Researcher at UEMG, and an Industrial Design Specialist at Horta Design Studio.
Pedro has been working on industrial and graphic design projects since 2018, focusing on electronics, health and wellness design, bioinspiration, and digital fabrication. Since 2016, he has gained experience in Industrial Design research, Technology, Design for Health, Design and Emotion, Biomimetics, and Social Stigmas.
